Welcome to our centre
Envirocentre News and Gossip
The IEC has just been to the Waimumu Field days, and had a great day SIT orientation. We had a green breakfast on the 21st of February , and have been busy getting ready for the Family Bike day. The Family bike day is to be held at Queens Park on Sunday the 26th February, meeting at 11.30am at the Band Rotunda. Bring your helmet your family and enjoy the day beginning with a free sausage sizzle.
Interested in getting involved in a Community Garden, Invercargill Transition Towns has an area of land that can be used for community garden, workshops etc.
The garden is located in the old Crops for Southland site, next to the council nursery and opposite the entrance to Anderson's Park on the outskirts of North Invercargill.
The garden will be an allotment style garden ie you will have your own plot to plant your plants in. Because there are some established plants etc already in the site there will also be a place for a wild/foraging type garden. Interested in being involved either contact the Invercargill Environment Centre 218-4404 iec@paradise.net.nz. or contact phil.becs@xtra.co.nz.
Keep in tuned for workshops to be held at the community garden.
P.S The Bike doctor is now open again on Fridays at St Johns Hall opposite Pak n Save, 11am-4pm.
